The Children of Huang Shi, is a 2008 war drama film that was directed by Roger Spottiswoode. The film is centered around the true story of George Hogg, a British journalist who travels to war-torn China during the Second Sino-Japanese War in the late 1930s. While covering the conflict, he witnesses the atrocities committed by the Japanese army against civilians and joins a group of orphaned children led by a Chinese teacher named Mrs. Wang.
Hogg, along with Mrs. Wang, manages to keep the group of children safe and eventually leads them to a remote village called Huang Shi. There, they build a school and begin a new life. However, their peaceful existence is threatened when the Japanese army arrives, and the children and adults must band together to fight for their survival.
The Children of Huang Shi is a moving portrayal of a little-known chapter of WWII history. It stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Radha Mitchell, and Chow Yun-fat, among others.
